Background and Aims:
Weakness of muscles in the core stability can cause changes in the biomechanics of the body and reduce balance. The purpose of this study was the effect of six weeks of core stability training for runners on the balance and athletic performance of female sprinters.
Materials and Methods: The current research was semi-experimental and practical with a pre-test and post-test design. The statistical population of the current research was made up of all the female athletes (18-30 years old) working in Isfahan city, among whom 30 people were selected purposefully and available and randomly in two experimental groups (15 people) and control (15 people) were selected. The experimental group practiced for 8 week, 3 sessions a week for 60 minute. Before and after the training period, the static balance, dynamic balance and sports performance of the athletes were measured using stork balance test, Y test and 60 meters sprint, respectively. To analyze the data, the analysis of covariance statistical test was used at the significance P< level of 0.05.

Results: The results showed that after controlling the effect of the pre-test (covariate), there was a significant difference in the results of the research variables between the experimental and control groups in static balance (P=0.01), dynamic balance (P=0.001) and athletic performance (P=0.004). so that the experimental group was significantly better than the control group in all variables.
Conclusion: Considering the importance of core stability exercises on static and dynamic balance and athletic performance of 60-meter sprint in women sprinters, it is suggested in the present research that sports coaches use the results of this research to improve athletes' performance.
