A review of corrective exercise protocols in people with Genu varum deformity

Abstract

Introduction: In Genu varum deformity, the knees move apart, inner ankles get closer and the legs become bowed. Increasing the intensity of Genu varum increases the internal rotation of the ankle and tibia during the stance phase of walking. One of the methods of correcting the Genu varum is the use of sports protocols, which has a prominent in correcting this type of deformity. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review the corrective exercise protocols in people with genu varum deformity.

Materai and Methods: Methodology: The search was done using Persian and English search engines such as Magiran, Sid, Google Scholar, and Pub Med, semantac, springer, sciencedirect. Also, for search, the time limit from 2013 to 2023 and the keywords corrective exercise, genu varum, protocol, Q angle and for Persian search were used.

Results: 14 articles were selected based on the inclusion criteria. These studies mainly investigate the effect of corrective exercise protocols on reducing genu varum, improving dynamic balance, reducing knee internal torque, improving gait patterns, reducing pressure in the area of the second to fifth fingers, reducing knee load pressure, improving pain and performance that improved the performance of the aforementioned factors.

Conclusion: According to the results of the researches, the corrective exercise protocols reviewed in the correction of genu varum deformity can be effective in improving the condition of the genu varum.
