Background and Aims: Despite the advancement of science in the field of spinal diseases and the increasing development of treatment methods, back pain remains one of the major public health problems in industrial and non-industrial countries. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of a pelvic floor exercise period on endurance of central body muscles, torso range of motion and pain intensity in middle-aged women with non-specific chronic low back pain.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-post- test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study consists of middle-aged women with nonspecific chronic low back pain in the age range of 35-50. The statistical sample of the study included 30 middle-aged women with non-specific chronic low back pain who were purposefully and accessibly selected from the statistical population of the study based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Exercise protocol was performed with a pelvic clock tool for eight weeks (3 sessions of 45 minutes per week) by a researcher in a sports club. Central body muscle endurance indices, trunk range of motion, and pain intensity were measured using McGill test (trunk flexural endurance test for abdominal muscle endurance), modified Bearing Sorenson test, Schubert modified test, and visual analgesic of pain. The measurement was made while the control group participated only in the pre-test and post-test stages. Paired t-test and independent t-test were used for intra-group and inter-group comparison, respectively, at a significance level of 0.05.
Results: The results showed that after eight weeks of pelvic floor exercises, it was able to affect the endurance of the muscles of the central body, the range of motion of the trunk and the severity of pain in middle-aged women with non-specific chronic low back pain, but in the group. No effect control was observed (P≤0.05).
Conclusion: According to the findings of the present study. It is suggested that pelvic floor exercises as a cheap and practical modality to increase endurance of central body muscles, torso range of motion and reduce pain in middle-aged women with non-specific chronic low back pain and as a method of prevention. To be used.
