Background and Aims: Spastic cerebral palsy is the most common cerebral palsy in children. This study aimed to investigate the effect of therasuit on the balance and gait kinematics of children with cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia and its persistence.
Materials and Methods:
This quasi-experimental study was performed on children with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy referred to occupational therapy and rehabilitation clinics in Hamadan, Iran, in 2021. Twelve children were selected by convenience sampling. Frequency( percentage), mean (standard deviation) were used to description. Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon tests were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. All statistical analyzes were performed in SPSS24 software with a significance level of 5%.
Results:
A total of 12 children with a mean (SD)of age 10 (2.54) years participated in the study. Results of the Mann–Whitney U test showed that after the intervention the median of the balancescore in the intervention group was significantly increased compared to the control group (p = 0.002), But the speed of walking, the range of motion of the thigh and knee flexion in the position (degree) significantly decreased than the control group. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that immediately after 12 -week training and a month later in terms of brain paralysis balance score and kinmatic walking there were no significant difference in two groups (p> 0.05).
Conclusion: Our results confirmed the effectiveness of corrective exercises and duribility in the group with therasuit. The use of space clothing is recommended.
